Our Impact

Through our seasonal coastal escapes, we have brought together 35 women to explore the Sussex coastline, explore the geology, consider marine life and our relationship to the changing nearshore environment - to cook over the fire, experience hot and cold therapy in the beach sauna and reconnect with themselves, one another and the natural world that we are a part of.

Connecting on the shoreline

“Spending time with a varied, interesting and non hierarchical group of women made it feel like such a comfortable space to be in”

- Spring coastal escape participant

In partnership with Sussex based charities we have worked with 28 young people (aged between 14 - 26) and trained 6 specialist peer researchers as part of an evaluative project where young adults lead the research into the impact of the charity’s work.

Connecting to the natural world through arts

Through workshops and events inspired by the natural world, we have brought together over 170 people to:

  • celebrate the rare and hope-inspiring presence of a humpback whale along the Sussex coastline through educational and welcoming watercolour workshop - with a focus more on the experience of painting as a way to feel connected with the world around us (as opposed to a more technical skill-based focus)

  • learn the traditional craft of tin-embossing, alongside a talk about white-smithing and the heritage of traveller crafts - creating nature inspired decorations and understanding the way that rural materials (such as tin, fence wire or other metals used in agricultural communities) were used by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller cultures to create beautiful and useful items to sell

  • take part in themed clay workshops - learning to hand build using clay - whilst meeting others and exploring themes of self-care, community action and wellbeing.
